Jun 18, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsSocorro, NM; Tokyo, Japan — (press release excerpt) — Finite State Machine Labs (FSMLabs) and A&A Linux Corporation, a Japanese embedded Linux firm, have announced a real-time Linux joint development agreement. The two firms simultaneously announced a sales and distribution agreement for RTLinux within the… Japanese market.
A&A will integrate RTLinux technology into their “A&A Linux” distribution. The first release, “A&A/RTLinux”, is available now for the x86 architecture. Additionally, the two companies announced that they will jointly develop a hybrid of RTLinux and ITRON, the Japanese de facto standard embedded RTOS, to be known as “A&A/RTLinux-On-ITRON”.
“RTLinux is already very popular in Japan,” said Victor Yodaiken, CEO of FSMLabs. “Working with A&A Linux, we hope to make RTLinux and the RTLinux decoupled-OS approach to real-time more accessible to Japanese engineers.
All products developed under the agreement will be technically supported by A&A Linux Corporation's distributors, AI Corporation and Advanced Data Controls, which will provide development tools and related products for A&A/RTLinux.
A&A Linux Corporation was founded in November, 2000 by two leading Japanese embedded software companies, AI Corporation and Advanced Data Controls. Its distribution, A&A Linux, currently supports a wide variety of industrial board computers, and will soon support 32/64 bit CPUs.
