HA middleware, Linux converge on telecom hardware
Feb 8, 2007 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 3 viewsEnea says its high-availability network software will be available pre-integrated with Kontron's AdvancedTCA and AdvancedMC systems. The combined product targets media gateways, base station controllers, and session border controllers, and will run MontaVista Linux.
The partnership appears to include Enea's recently updated Element 2.0 high-availability suite, which is said to provide standard interfaces for AdvancedTCA and for the SA Forum's Hardware Platform Interface. The pre-integration deal may also extend to Enea's OSE and OSEck RTOSes; however, the first pre-integrated product will be based on MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition, Enea confirmed.
Enea says its network software offers “best-in-class” network supervision, fault management, device management, and data management services. Pre-integrated on Kontron hardware, it offers a flexible, high-availability platform on which to build “five nines” carrier equipment for high-quality multimedia services, the company says.
Enea will demonstrate the combined products at a “Screening Room” at the 3GSM World Congress next week in Barcelona.
Enea and MontaVista separately announced a product integration effort, about a year ago. Kontron, meanwhile, also supports Wind River's Carrier Grade Linux stack, and recently joined Wind River's partner program.
