Highly integrated EBX SBC targets transportation, mil/aero markets

Diamond Systems has launched a “three-in-one” EBX form-factor single-board computer (SBC) that integrates a P-III processor, DC-DC converter, and analog I/O data acquisition circuit on the same board. The board supports Linux, and targets transportation and military/aerospace applications where high integration, ruggedness, and power supply compatibility are key.

Diamond claims its Hercules-EBX to be “the first embedded CPU to integrate a Pentium-III class processor, professional-quality analog I/O circuit with autocalibration, and wide-input DC/DC power supply onto a single EBX form-factor board measuring 5.75 x 8.00 inches. Diamond believes that fewer boards, fewer connectors, and fewer items to purchase will result in quicker assembly, better vibration tolerance, and easier inventory management.

Diamond says the board can operate from -40 to +85 deg. C, and accept power input from 5-28V. The device features:

  • VIA Eden Pentium-III class processor running at 400 to 733MHz
  • Low power (10W) fanless operation at 400-550MHz
  • On-board 128MB to 256MB memory for increased ruggedness
  • On-board video, audio, and 10/100Mbps Ethernet
  • Integrated 32-channel 250KHz data acquisition circuit with autocalibration
  • Integrated DC/DC power supply with 5-28VDC input range
  • PC/104 and PC/104-Plus expansion capability
  • Extended temperature -40 to +85 deg. C operation

The Hercules-EBX is priced between $1,100 and $880, depending on quantity.
