Mini-ITX board has 7:1 surround sound

Commell announced an embedded motherboard that uses the Mini-ITX form factor and supports Intel's Core i7, i5, and i3 processors. The LV-67F supports up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, features Mini PCI, PCI Express, and Mini PCI Express expansion, and offers six SATA ports, the company says.

Commell's new LV-67F uses the 6.7 x 6.7-inch Mini-ITX form factor and employs Intel's QM57 Express chipset. It's said to accept a variety of CPUs — including the embedded-specific "Arrandale" Core CPUs Intel introduced in January — via its rPGA988A socket, and to accept up to 8GB of DDR3 memory via two SODIMM slots.


Commell's LV-67F

Commell is not specific about the available clock speeds, but notes that Core i7, i5, i3, Celeron, and Pentium CPUs are all possible. The LV-67F's onboard VGA output is only active when a CPU with on-chip graphics has been chosen, the company adds.

Mass storage is catered for on the LV-67F via six SATA II ports, which operate at up to 3GB/sec. and allow drives to be installed in RAID 0, 1, 5, or 10 configurations, according to Commell. Expansion, meanwhile, is said to include a PCI Express x16 slot, a Mini PCI Express slot, and a Mini PCI socket.

In addition to the aforementioned VGA output, connectors on the LV-67F's coastline (above) include two PS/2 ports, six USB 2.0 ports, two gigabit Ethernet ports, and an RS232 port. The board also offers an S/PDIF digital audio output plus six 3.5mm jacks which, Commell says, deliver 7:1 surround sound.

Apart from this, the LV-67F is also said to have a bounty of internal connectors, including headers for an RS232/422/485 port, four additional USB 2.0 ports, IrDA, and 8-bit GPIO. Additionally, there's an LVDS connector, with an LCD inverter, plus headers for front panel audio jacks, the company says.

An available model called the LV-67FXD replaces the LV-67F's VGA output with a DVI interface, and an LV-67FXT offers two onboard VGA outputs, says Commell. All the boards may be powered via a standard 20-pin ATX power supply or 9~24V DC input, but DC input does not allow installation of a PCI Express x16 graphics card, the company adds.
