IBM introduces new PowerPC embedded chips

The new chips — the IBM PowerPC 440GP and the… IBM PowerPC 405GPr — both members of the IBM PowerPowerPC 4xx family of integrated 32-bit RISC processors — offer the extra horsepower necessary to vastly improve the performance of a variety of applications, including data storage, Internet access devices, imaging and communication products, including base stations, routers, and gateways.
Support for operation of the IBM PowerPC processors under Embedded Linux is offered by a number of IBM partners.
