Internet mobility management support for Linux devices
Nov 14, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsHelsinki, Finland — (press release excerpt) — Lifix Systems has released Lifix Go!, an Internet mobility management system that runs on Linux.
Based on the Mobile IP industry standard, Lifix Go! enables a mobile user to take his Internet address and all open Internet sessions with him whenever and wherever he chooses to attach to the Internet. Lifix Go! makes moving in and between WLAN (802.11b) networks with a laptop or PDA entirely seamless and transparent. The user has a constant high-quality connection that doesn't break even when changing link media e.g., from WLAN to Ethernet.
The target audience is Linux-based Internet appliances. The client, or mobile node using Mobile IP terminology, runs on Linux PDAs or laptops. The routing servers, or home agent and foreign agent, run on Linux servers or embedded Linux networking devices.
