IP stack for embedded Linux supports IPv6 virtual routing
Mar 30, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 4 viewsInterpeak is shipping an integrated Internet Protocol (IP) software stack it claims is the first to support virtual routing for IPv4 and IPv6. Internet Edge Software (IES) provides data routing and forwarding, user administration, secure management, and basic system services. It targets edge equipment developers, along with session control, DSLAM, B-RAS system, and IP-Service platform developers.
Interpeak lists IES data routing and forwarding capabilities that include:
- Virtual routing with full virtualization
- Dual-mode IPv4/IPv6
- VLAN support
- Programmable QoS framework
- Integration with OSPF, BGP, MPLS routing stacks from all leading vendors.
IES also includes basic system services, according to Interpeak, such as DNS and SMTP clients. User administration capabilities include PPP/PPPoE, Radius, and DCHP relaying. IES secure management includes SNMP v1/v2c/v3, SSH for secure remote login, SFTP for secure file transfer, as well as a secure embedded web server.
Interpeak IES runs on “all major real-time operating systems, including Linux, VxWorks, INTEGRITY, OSE, Nucleus, and others,” according to Interpeak.
“IES is the only protocol suite that provides full virtual routing with support for IPv6 on all major operating systems,” said Johan Fornaeus, CEO, Interpeak.
Interpeak also offers a commercial SSH daemon that supports embedded Linux.
