Bangalore, India — (press release excerpt) — Jataayu Software announces the release of the beta version of its WAP 2.0 (Wireless Application Protocol) Developer toolkit. The toolkit contains a WAP 2.0 compatible gateway, browser, a development environment and sample programs and is available at www.jataayusoft.com for free download.

WAP Forum, an international forum on Wireless Technologies, announced WAP 2.0 specifications in August last year. Jataayu achieved the distinction of being the first company in the world to have WAP 2.0 based gateway and browsers in October 2001.

“WAP 2.0 is a significant improvement over its predecessor WAP 1.2, and is expected to firmly establish the mobile Internet industry created by the WAP 1.x specification. Jataayu, as one of the early adopters of WAP 2.0, now leads the way by providing the tools needed by the wireless developer community to start delivering innovative applications and services based on WAP 2.0,” says Mahesh Jain, CEO of Jataayu Software.

Dr. Gopalakrishna, Director & Advisor, said that the launch of the Jataayu WAP 2.0 Toolkit as well as the online community to help adopt WAP 2.0 technology will let developers start working with WAP 2.0 without having to wait for device manufacturers to release supported devices.

Mr. Raj Kesarimall, Director Marketing, says that the release of Jataayu WAP2.0 Toolkit will propel Jataayu to a position of leadership in this area.

Jataayu Software is a leading player in the Wireless Internet arena. Based in Bangalore, India, Jataayu Software was promoted by Integra Micro Systems last year. Jataayu has the distinction of being 4th in the world for introducing WAP Gateways. It has provided its solutions to a majority of leading mobile service operators, software houses, and portals in India and other countries. Jataayu specializes in WAP, SyncML, VoiceXML, SIM applications and Internet utilities such as e-mail, Chat, PIM and Messaging. TCS and GE Capital are investors in Jataayu Software.
