The Linux Foundation announced the speakers and agenda for its invitation-only second annual Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit. Held on April 8-10 in Austin, Texas, the summit features a few embedded panels, along with various presentations related to kernel and desktop/enterprise topics.

According to the LF, which formed a little over a year ago when the OSDL (Open Source Development Labs) merged with the Free Standards Group (FSG), the LF Collaboration Summit is the only Linux event to combine participation from “developers, users, vendors, ISVs, attorneys, and C-level executives to tackle the most pressing issues facing Linux.” This year's event features Red Hat CTO Brian Stevens giving a keynote on the future of Linux. Other speakers include MySQL's CEO Marten Mickos speaking on his company's future after its $1 billion acquisition by Sun.

During the opening-day plenary sessions there will be a panel on the future of mobile Linux, featuring Sean Moss-Pultz of OpenMoko, Eric Chu of the Android-promoting Open Handset Alliance (OHA), Derek Speed of Moblin, Morgan Gillis of the Linux Phone Standards (LiPS) Forum, and David “Lefty” Schlessinger, representing both Access and LiPS. A separate panel of industry leaders will include Christy Wyatt (pictured at left), a VP for Motorola's Mobile Devices business.

On day two, workgroups and breakout sessions will be provided for the following tracks: Desktop Architects, the Virtualization Mini-Summit, Mobile and Embedded Linux, Power Management on Linux, and Carrier Grade Linux (hosted by MontaVista's Dan Cauchy, chairman of the LF's CGL working group). The Mobile and Embedded Linux workshop includes presentations from the LiMO Foundation, Moblin, the OHA, and OpenMoko.

Stated Jim Zemlin, LF's executive director, “This year's LF Collaboration Summit has attracted a veritable who's who of Linux leaders. We're looking forward to a packed house and a lively group.”
