LINDON, UTAH — (company press release) — Lineo, Inc., a leading developer of embedded Linux® system software, today announced an agreement with Coresoft Technologies to deliver a Linux-based computer telephony solution. Embedded CenterPoint will use Embedix Linux, Lineo's embedded Linux-based operating system, to provide ISVs and application developers a software engine for embedded Linux telephony… products. This joint effort will provide the OEM market with critical telephony enabled solutions sought by developers building devices across a wide spectrum, from the smallest home automation devices all the way to large-scale Application Service Provider solutions.

“Telephony products running on an embedded Linux core offer device manufacturers the chance to take greater advantage of the Internet because of the inherent nature of Linux as an operating system,” said Bryan Sparks, CEO of Lineo, Inc. “Coresoft has demonstrated a solid ability to deliver solutions for the telephony market and Lineo looks forward to developing this Linux-based telephony solution with them.”

“As the market increasingly utilizes embedded Linux, we want to provide the tools to telephony-enable each product or solution based on the specific needs of each one,” said Scott Sorensen, president of Coresoft. “Lineo Embedix Linux is the perfect OS for adding telephony services and functionality to any number of solutions and products.”

Embedded CenterPoint will be available through the Lineo Embedix ISV program. Coresoft and Lineo, sister companies under the Canopy Group, are beginning development on this solution immediately, and expect to begin shipping the product next quarter.
