Lindon, UTAH — Lineo Inc., a leading developer of embedded Linux system software, today announced “Lineo Partner Connect”, a partnership program that tests and certifies third-party software applications on Lineo's Embedix embedded Linux products.

Lineo Partner Connect provides authorized and certified third-party applications to Lineo OEMs for embedding in new devices. The program gives vendors the opportunity to expand their presence in the embedded market by providing
applications that are tested and certified to work with Embedix products. The result is significantly decreased time to market and shortened development cycles for OEMs. The program includes two levels of participation:

  • Certified Embedix Partner — these products have a high degree of integration with Embedix products. These applications are certified to work as plug-&-play components on the Embedix family of products.

  • Embedix Partner — these products are tested for basic compatibility with Embedix Linux and Linux in general.
Charter members of Lineo Partner Connect are: 2net Limited, Jabber.com, Mimer, NewMonics, Inc., Object Computing, Inc., Solid Information Technology Corp., Swell Software, Inc., ViewTouch, Inc.

“Lineo Partner Connect makes it easier for the OEM to go to Lineo and get a one-stop, complete solution,” said Allan Smart, Vice President of Professional Services at Lineo, Inc. “Lineo is able to broaden the application
and software services offering in the embedded Linux market by offering these ISVs a way to verify that their products work on Lineo Embedix products.

Jussi Harvela, Executive Vice President of SOLID said, “The Lineo Partner Connect Program simplifies the entire application development process for customers interested in utilizing SOLID technology on the Embedix operating environment. The end result will be the ability to quickly implement innovative and maintenance-free data management and system-level synchronization solutions for real-time, real-world applications.”

Doug Higgins, CEO of NewMonics, a technology leader in real-time portable development tools for Java and Linux said, “With more than 25 percent of the embedded systems market planning to use Linux in year 2000, we are thrilled with the opportunity to be a certified Embedix partner. Next-generation embedded developers seek high-level programming languages, portable and reusable code, real-time responsiveness and open standards. By partnering with Lineo, NewMonics delivers premier solutions to these developers using Java and Linux technology.”
