The new Linux 2.6 based BSP supports the CP306 and other Kontron 3U cPCI boards. Kontron boards are designed to withstand high temperature ranges, shock, vibration, moisture, dust, and electrical noise.
The BSP includes VisualLynux, a development tool based on Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, and SpyKer, a dynamic instrumented system trace analyzer. It also includes a kernel and drivers based on Linux 2.6.
LynuxWorks announced BlueCat 5.0 on September 8, 2003, as the first commercial Linux distribution based on the 2.6 Linux kernel. It says the 2.6 kernel offers enhancements in the general areas of determinism, reduced memory contention, and the use of POSIX for task scheduling and thread creation and management.
Kontron Product Manager Richard Moore said, “With our CP306 product, we're leveraging Intel's leading technology with the high-performance, low-power Pentium M and Gigabit Ethernet in a small, rugged form-factor.”
