Kontron announced a 3U CompactPCI single-board computer (SBC) based on an Intel 1.6 GHz Pentium M processor. Although the board performs comparably to one with a 2.4 GHz desktop-class Intel Pentium 4, it requires roughly 50 percent less power and can be cooled passively, the company said.

Other onboard features of the CP306 include Gigabit Ethernet, Fast (100 Mbps) Ethernet, quad USB 2.0, up to 4 serial ports, dual ATA drive interfaces, a built-in CompactFlash socket, and up to 512MB SDRAM. Additionally, it supports an extended temperature range of -40 to +85 deg. C at 1.1 GHz CPU clock rate, Kontron said.

Kontron offers Linux operating system support for the board, as well as Windows XP, XP Embedded, and 2000, and VxWorks.
