The Computer History Museum is inviting LinuxWorld attendees to bring Linux-related memorabilia, for display in a booth celebrating the 15-year anniversary of the kernel. Suitable items include historical prototypes, early business plans for Linux and open source companies, and early photographs of key figures… in the Linux and open source movement.

The Museum began soliciting Linux-related pre-1998 artifacts earlier in the year, and has already collected a number of items for display at the Expo, and for its permanent collection, it says.

Robert Stetson, marcom director for the Museum, stated, “We were thrilled when the producers of LinuxWorld came to us with a proposition to help them recognize the 15th anniversary of the kernel. We are always looking for key artifacts to augment our collection.”

Suitable items should be brought to the Museum's booth, near the main entrance, where they will be displayed, at the owners responsibility, subject to space availability.

Over the years, LinuxDevices has tracked more than a few Linux devices that probably qualify for a spot in the Museum. Examples include: the TiVO PVR (personal video recorder), the Aplio Internet phone, the IBM Linux wrist-watch, and the Kerbango Internet radio.
