Linux STB used in award-winning eldercare product
Oct 27, 2006 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 6 viewsDutch telecom operator and Internet service provider KPN has bestowed an award for innovation on DataBalk's ZorgTV (“CareTV” in English) product. The product is based on Amino's Linux-based Aminet110 set-top box (pictured at left), and aims to help elderly people “stay independent” longer, according to DataBalk.
ZorgTV appears to be undergoing pilot testing, currently. In addition to an Aminet110 STB, it includes a camera with pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities, and seems designed to allow homebound patients to interact with medical professionals.
Additional details are available in DataBalk's Dutch-language website, here. Details about the Aminet110 can be found here.
