Arcom is shipping a new, low-power Geode-based single-board computer (SBC) in the EBX format. The SBC-GX533 is based on an AMD GX [email protected] x86 processor, and is available with a Linux 2.6 development kit.

Arcom says the SBC-GX533 consumes just 7W of power, yet delivers roughly three times the performance of its predecessor, the SBC-GX1. The new board is based on a Geode GX [email protected] processor clocked at 400MHz, and it accommodates up to 512 MB of DDR 266 MHz RAM, and either 16 or 32 MB of flash memory.

The SBC's onboard graphics controller is factory-configured to drive either a standard analog display or a TFT LCD panel, Arcom says. A 2D/3D dual-output video controller, which includes an MPEG2 video decoder, is available as an option.

Arcom lists the following key features and specifications for the SBC-GX533:

Availability

The SBC-GX533 is available now priced at $385 in 1k quantities, according to the company. “Rapid application development kits” for Linux 2.6, Windows XP Embedded, and Windows CE 5.0 are also available, the company says.
