Our friends at Microsoft kindly sent along this note regarding the launch of Windows XP Embedded . . .

Today at the Windows Embedded Developers Conference in Las Vegas, Jim Allchin announced the launch of the Windows XP Embedded operating system. In addition to the launch, Microsoft announced a free Windows XP Embedded evaluation kit, as well as 90-day promotional pricing of $995 for the Windows XP Embedded tool suite. Lastly, Microsoft announced the availability of new Windows XP Embedded training curriculum, providing a two-day hands on course delivering in-depth technical information on the platform.

At the Developers' Conference, Microsoft Rapid Development Program partners and customers were on hand to introduce the first wave of Windows XP Embedded based products, including retail point of sale devices, self service kiosks, thin clients, industrial automation devices, advanced set-top boxes, gaming devices, and residential gateways.
