Microsoft's Windows Embedded team will host a “free app” giveaway during LinuxWorld. The “apps” — in this case appetizers — include embedded turkey clubs (“it's the bacon that's embedded”) and boneless “penguin” wings (“hot and tasty, but with no support infrastructure”), plus free beer and wine.

In addition to “the biggest selection of apps outside of the Moscone Center,” Microsoft promises that Embedded Product Managers Mike Hall and Dan Javnozon will be on-hand to “mingle and discuss questions” about Microsoft's embedded products, including Windows XP Embedded, Windows Embedded for Point of Service, and Windows CE 6, which is expected to ship this fall. Also present will be some independent consultants who have gained “MVP” status as top experts in using Microsoft's embedded products.

The event will take place at on Wed., Aug. 16, from 6-8 PM at Jillian's, in the Metreon building across from the Moscone Center.

Hall hosted a similar “free pizza” event at last year's LinuxWorld. He survived that one — will he be as lucky this year? …eh?
