Parvus has added onboard mounting support for two M-Systems uDiskonChip solid-state disks (SSDs) to its PC/104-Plus form-factor 4-port USB 2.0 controller. The “COM-1440” (aka “USB104+”) board is compatible with embedded Linux, according to the company.

The COM-1440 provides four USB ports with data transfer speeds of up to 480 Mbps, along with two mezzanine sockets compatible with M-Systems's uDiskonChip (uDOC). Two of the USB ports are enhanced to supply 2 Amps of drive for directly powering attached USB mass storage and other devices through the USB cable.

According to M-Systems, the uDOC provides functional and signal-level compatibility with the industry standard USB 2.0 peripheral device interface, including plug-and-play operating system support.

The COM-1440's uDOC sockets are accessed as two independent logical disks, with capacities ranging from 64 to 2048 MB each. They support througput rates of 20MB/sec read and 10MB/sec write, Parvus says.

The COM-1440 is currently in stock and priced at $132/each in 100-unit quantities, according to Parvus.
