MontaVista opens UK office
Aug 30, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsMontaVista Software will open a United Kingdom office in Bracknell, Berkshire, located about 30 miles to the WSW of London. The office will market and support all MontaVista products, including Professional, Consumer Electronics, and Carrier Grade Linux Editions.
Previously, MontaVista products were available in the UK via a local distributor.
MontaVista maintains development centers in Moscow and Beijing, and a support center in India, and about 40 of its 200 employees were based outside the US as of a February, 2004 conversation with CEO Jim Ready.
MontaVista also opened a support office in Korea and named a distributor in Italy in 2003. German SBC vendor MEN Micro also recently joined a self-certification program MontaVista announced in April that lets IHVs (independent hardware vendors) distribute MontaVista Linux with their SBCs (single board computers).
“After having set up a strong presence in North America and Europe, and establishing a solid foothold in Asia, we are now expanding our presence in the UK, which is currently seeing rapid growth for Linux development,” said Ready.
