MontaVista to teach embedded Linux development
Dec 18, 2000 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 viewsSunnyvale, CA — (press release excerpt) — MontaVista Software has established the “MontaVista University” training program for subscribing developers who wish to acquire a deeper understanding and greater development efficiency in the open source Linux domain. The program will launch on January 15, 2001, with classes at subscriber sites and at MontaVista Software's corporate headquarters.
Classes will cover all key aspects of Linux — developing and building an embedded Linux target system, developing and debugging a multi-threaded application, writing and executing a kernel module, and creating and testing a Linux device driver. Participants must be proficient in C programming and well versed in operating system concepts and practices. In each section, hands-on exercises supplement the lecture materials with practical challenges modeled on actual development experience. These exercises range from simple cookbook procedures up to and including significant development challenges.
The training program is ideal for those who may have UNIX experience but little knowledge of Linux or embedded systems. It's also valuable for those with Linux experience who may not be quite so familiar with embedded systems, especially if they have been working primarily in the desktop environment.
MontaVista University is open to all subscribers. Training can be arranged at the subscriber's site or through classes held at MontaVista's offices worldwide. For more information contact MontaVista Software at (408) 328-9200 or email at [email protected].
