Neoware Systems, Inc. will demonstrate a new, embedded version of the Linux operating system at LinuxWorld Expo in New York. This new operating system is designed for Information Appliances — small devices that typically do not have hard disk drives or significant memory.

Neoware has applied more than ten years of experience developing embedded UNIX and Linux based system software. Neoware's version of Linux is fully binary compatible with other Linux versions, and supports standard Linux device drivers.

Neoware's Linux version is designed for Information Appliances — devices without hard drives or floppies - that can be configured for a variety of markets. Neoware's Linux version can be combined with other Linux software to create various appliances, including:

  • Web access appliances
  • Email appliances
  • Thin client appliances for ASP computing
  • Hand-held wireless communication appliances
  • Network appliances such as firewalls and routers
Neoware's embedded Linux operating system includes Neoware-developed enhancements that allow Information Appliances to be configured and managed remotely, and be updated with new software from a central location.

Neoware will demonstrate its new embedded Linux operating system at LinuxWorld Expo in New York City February 2-4, 2000. Neoware is in booth #163.
