New York — (press release excerpt) — Wasabi Systems today announced completion of a port of NetBSD to the AMD Alchemy Solutions Au1000 processor on the Pb1000 development board.

The Au1000 is a low-power high-performance MIPS32 technology-based system-on-chip, integrating many peripherals, including two 10/100 Ethernet controllers and USB host and device controllers. AMD is targeting the Au1000 processor at the networked handheld and Internet appliance markets, where low power requirements are vital. These target market applications include web pads, thin clients, enterprise PDAs, remote access equipment, and other embedded products.
