SANDY, Utah — (company press release) — Alta Technology, a leading developer and supplier of high-performance computing solutions, has announced formation of Linux NetworX Inc. The new company will use the Linux operating system as it provides large-scale clustered computer solutions, a method of linking multiple computers through high-speed networks to form a single system, for Internet, industry,… research and other complex technological fields.

“Linux NetworX selected the Linux operating system for its stability, reliability and rapid development,” said Glen Lowry, president and chief executive officer for Alta Technology. “Like the Linux operating system, large-scale clustered computing is an emerging technology — especially with the enormous growth in Internet infrastructure.”

Alta Technology first began development of Linux-based clustered computing products and services in 1997. Clustered computers present a cost-effective alternative to the traditional “super computer” for customers with complex computing needs.

“As we developed the technology further, we realized there was a high demand for cluster systems that can easily grow with a company's needs,” said Lowry. “Through integration, support and maintenance, Linux NetworX will combine an end-to-end product with on-going service.”

Linux is a computer operating system that is distributed freely on the Internet. As an open source code, Linux allows developers to share information, code and suggestions to continuously maintain and improve the system.
