The new IDE combines an extensive number of cross-compilers and Visual GDB debuggers from the GNU XTools product set with the full-featured build, editing and file differencing technologies of Visual SlickEdit to create a single package for the embedded systems developer.

Visual X-Tools is powered by the award winning Visual SlickEdit Editing Environment from SlickEdit Inc.. Microcross chose Visual SlickEdit as both the build framework and editor for its new Visual X-Tools IDE product because of its speed, flexibility and powerful editing features such as Context Tagging, syntax expansion, code beautification, code navigation and lookup, and selective display.

Microcross GNU X-Tools is built for over 20 CPU architectures (200+ variants) from one Microcross maintained source tree. Microcross supports multiple host and targets providing complete coverage from small, deeply embedded, real-time applications to very large-scale projects.
