Sunnyvale, CA — (press release excerpt) — Jungo Software Technologies Inc. and Conexant Systems, Inc. have announced a collaboration to develop a Linux-based reference design that will provide integrated access device (IAD) and residential gateway (RG) OEMs with a seamless integrated solution for quickly developing ADSL-based broadband access devices. Under the agreement, Jungo and Conexant will cooperate to offer advanced platforms which include voice over DSL (VoDSL), voice over IP (VoIP), HomePNA phoneline networking, and a comprehensive virtual private network. The reference design combines Conexant's AccessRunner multi-function ADSL chipset with Jungo's OpenRG residential gateway software platform. The first reference design will be available for OEMs on April 2001.

OpenRG is a complete residential gateway embedded software platform for broadband integrated access devices, supporting DSL, cable and satellite interfaces, home networking protocols, and includes the software applications for providing essential broadband services to the home. The scaleable architecture matches most hardware configurations of broadband gateway devices and CPUs. OpenRG includes the drivers, communication stacks, operating system, and a set of highly integrated applications for the home such as security, voice, home networking and VPN, plus a set of open APIs for third parties. The standards based design allows easy and fast adoption of new applications and services. Jungo's tools allow automatic porting of vendor's legacy modules to Jungo's OpenRG platform.
