New set-top media platform supports DVR, VOD, IP-TV

EnReach will introduce the EMC-300 media center at the Kagan Interactive TV Summit in New York this week as part of a panel discussion entitled, “ITV Demos:… Show and Tell Featuring New ITV Applications and Services.”
Unique to other DVR platforms on the market today, the EMC-300 media center is the first platform to incorporate both IP-TV and IP-VOD service capability to enable delivery of multiple television channels and VOD over broadband IP networks. The EMC-300 can also serve as a home media server for in-house or peer-to-peer file and video sharing. In addition to video, the EMC-300 is also a digital music jukebox for downloading and sharing audio files. Web browsing and E-mail capabilities are also included on the EMC-300 platform.The EMC-300 media center is also available as reference platform for license by OEM manufacturers. Additionally, production units of the EMC-300 media center are available for network operators, system integrators, or network equipment providers to purchase as part of a complete entertainment system. The EMC-300 media center is available for deployment today.
Set-top box developers with their own hardware platform may license the EnReach media center client applications. The EnReach media center client applications are built on a highly portable application-porting layer 5.0 and has been ported to more than 16 chipsets and popular embedded operating systems including Embedded Linux, VxWorks, and pSOS.
When purchased as part of a complete entertainment system, the EMC-300 media center comes with an EnReach enabled set-top box, fully integrated EnReach media center application software, and a complete EnReach back-end service management system. The proprietary back-end service management system enables critical functionality for an operator to deploy, manage, and bill for video services. The entertainment system is also pre-integrated with equipment from a variety of leading VOD server, networking equipment, and MPEG encoder vendors.
