The survey represents an important new geographic focus for Evans which conducts primary research on attitudes, beliefs, understandings and intentions of software… developers around the world.
“The People's Republic of China not only has the largest population but it is the country that is expected to lead in IT spending growth for the foreseeable future,” said Janel Garvin, vice president of research at Evans Data Corp. “The global leaders in IT hardware, software, and services are all targeting the Chinese market. Our new survey provides them with valuable information and insight that enables them to better target efforts to maximize their return on the investment.”
Evans interviewed more than 700 Chinese application developers to gain a deeper understanding of planned and current technology use, tools and work practices among programmers in the nation of 1.6 billion people. The 250-page survey examines platform use and migrations, language usage, Web development, Web services, Linux and open systems software, Java, security and development issues and tools.
The new Chinese survey, fielded in May 2002, will be available to Evans clients on July 15. The survey provides numerous cross tabs of data against developer segment and industry to enable a close-up understanding of specific development areas.
