New x86 embedded Linux distro boasts “instant” installation

(Taipei) announced what it calls an “instant embedded Linux distribution” for x86 processor-based systems and devices. According to Eshida, its “Eshida Instant Embedded Linux” (EIEL) distribution can run entirely from CDROM, requiring less than 16MB of system memory. EIEL can also be used to install the embedded Linux system image in Flash memory devices such as DiskOnChip, DiskOnModule, or… CompactFlash cards, Eshida said.
