PalmPalm adds NetFront to Tynux Embedded Linux

Seoul, Korea — (press release excerpt) — PalmPalm Technology Inc. announced a license and distribution agreement with Access Co., Ltd. for the embedded Linux market. Through this collaboration, Access' compact NetFront browser will be integrated into PalmPalm Technology's Tynux embedded… Linux OS. Additionally, the two companies will also engage in various forms of joint sales and marketing.

PalmPalm Technology's Tynux embedded Linux platform targets mobile Internet appliances such as PDAs, smart phones, Web pads, etc. Access' NetFront browser is the de facto standard in the Japanese consumer market, where it is deployed in NTT DoCoMo's i-mode phones.

Beginning in October of 2000, when PalmPalm Technology established a local branch in Japan, the two partners began to jointly supply Tynux and NetFront to developers of PDAs, smart cellular phones, and other devices within the Japanese market. Several of the resulting products will be shown publicly for the first time in PalmPalm Technology's suite at the Computex Taipei 2001 show in Taipei, June 4-8 2001.
