Partnership supports SBC-based embedded Linux designs
Mar 5, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsSanta Ana, CA — (press release excerpt) — REDSonic, Inc. today announced a partnership with Ampro Computers to provide complete, Linux solutions for the embedded marketplace. The strategic alliance will provide the embedded community with total software-integrated single-board computer (SBC) hardware solutions that facilitate an accelerated product time-to-market.
REDSonic has joined Ampro's Embedded Connection Partner Program and has begun an effort to port REDICE-Linux to Ampro's Pentium-based single board computers, including the Little Board/P5x, CoreModule/P5e and new EnCore 500. REDICE-Linux solutions for the three boards are expected to be available in 30 days.
“REDSonic has gained substantial value by selecting Ampro as a standard platform for delivering embedded real-time Linux solutions,” said Andrew Chen, Chief Technology Officer for REDSonic. “We are particularly looking forward to the expansion of the new EnCore module family to incorporate MIPS processors as well as other RISC processor implementations. EnCore provides us with a single, compatible platform across multiple processor architectures, reducing the effort and cost to support multiple processor families.”
