Adlink announced a EPIC-format SBC that incorporates both PCI-104 and SUMIT (Stackable Unified Modular Interconnect Technology) expansion interfaces. The “Ampro by Adlink” ReadyBoard 850 supports Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs up to 2.26GHz, includes dual gigabit Ethernet interfaces, and offers both 18/24-bit LVDS and a VGA output, the company says.

Employing the 6.5 x 4.5 inch EPIC (Embedded Platform for Industrial Computing) format, the ReadyBoard 850 is an obvious follow-on to the previously released ReadyBoard 800, 820, and 830. Compared to these earlier SBCs, the ReadyBoard 850 adds SUMIT expansion, supporting a single mezzanine card or multiple modules in a stack, Adlink says.

According to Adlink, the SBC's SUMIT A and B connectors serve up PCI Express and USB interfaces, among other things. The ReadyBoard 850 (above) also has a PCI-104 expansion connector, the company adds.

Adlink says the ReadyBoard 850 has two SATA ports on board. Its coastline, meanwhile, is said to include a serial port, a VGA port, two gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and a PS/2 port, as pictured earlier in this story.

The company cites two additional USB 2.0 ports via pin headers, and four more on the SUMIT-A connector. There's also a second serial port, apparently via header, plus eight GPIOs, audio, and an 18/24-bit LVDS connector, Adlink adds.

The ReadyBoard 850 is said to support up to 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 memory, and the chipset is Intel's GM45 Express (GMCH northbridge and ICH9M southbridge). The device can support Socket P processors ranging from an entry-level Intel Celeron M up to a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, Adlink says.

Brian Healey, product management manager at Adlink, stated, "Applications that will really benefit from the ReadyBoard 850 include digital signage, gaming, industrial automation, medical, and retail. The release of the Ampro by Adlink ReadyBoard 850 further demonstrates our support to our customer base and the EPIC form factor."

According to Adlink, the ReadyBoard 840 supports Ubuntu Linux, Windows CE 6.0, Windows XP Embedded, VxWorks, and QNX 6.3.
