PC Magazine reviews the Sharp Zaurus SL-5600
May 23, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsIt seems everyone is getting into the action of reviewing Sharp's SL-5600 Zaurus PDA these days. But rather than complaining of insufficient application software for what is, at the moment, primarily a one-company handheld category — the Linux/Java PDA — this highly complimentary review by PC Magazine takes an entirely… different tack: it recognizes the potential advantage of the SL-5600 in comparison with Pocket PC and Palm OS devices, with respect to the ability to easily develop custom enterprise applications for the device. Other specific strong points cited, in addition to its Linux/Java software platform, are the ample Flash memory for securing programs loaded in the device, the removable rechargeable battery, the good-looking display, and the dual expansion card slots (CompactFlash and SD/MMC).
