Jun 19, 2000 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

TimeSys Corporation announced that its implementation of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) with real-time capability will soon be available for the Timesys Linux/RT platform. The Real-Time Specification for Java is nearing completion by the Real-Time Java Experts Group. The group, which includes TimeSys officers Dr. Raj Rajkumar and Dr. Doug Locke, has spent more than 18 months carefully defining the requirements to ensure that time-critical applications can successfully exploit the widely used Java programming language. The final release of the implementation of the Real Time Specification for Java is expected to coincide with the release of the reference implementation. A preview of the technology is currently available.
