Red Hat is getting ready to release a training package for educational institutions. The package, called “Red Hat Academy,” is meant to enable schools and colleges to teach an academic version of Red Hat's “Red Hat Certified Engineer” (RHCE) training and certification program.

“The program will deliver quality, up-to-date IT curricula based on Red Hat's operating system and open technologies,” according to a statement issued by Red Hat today.

Available initially in English, Red Hat Academy will be licensed on an institution-wide basis, without per-copy license costs. Red Hat will demonstrate the new educational package at its booth at the 2003 Florida Educational Technology Conference in Orlando, Feb 4-6, 2003.
