Red Hat to port GNUPro to Sanyo Xstormy16 processor

San Francisco, CA –(press release excerpt) — Red Hat, Inc. today announced a partnership with Sanyo to provide a GNUPro port to Sanyo's Xstormy16 processor.

The architecture on which Sanyo's processor is based is designed for memory constrained applications, and Sanyo plans to utilize it in home appliances, portable units and audio systems. Red Hat's embedded tools team will draw upon their expertise in porting GNU-based tools in order to develop compiler, debugger and related software development tools for Sanyo's architecture. Red Hat will also provide ongoing maintenance support to Sanyo.
