Rugged automation box touted for machine vision
May 6, 2010 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsAdvantech announced a ruggedized, fanless automation computer with a front-accessible I/O design. The UNO-3084 is equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, dual DVI-I ports with support for up to three displays, dual Firewire interfaces, plus Ethernet, USB, and serial connectivity, says the company.
The latest in Advantech's line of UNO-branded automation computers, the UNO-3084 is aimed at machine vision applications and other industrial automation tasks. Equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 clocked at 1.6GHz, the UNO-3084 offers 2GB of DDR2 memory, expandable to 4GB, the company says.

The system comes standard with dual RS-232/422/485 ports with automatic flow control, and options provide for up to four more RS232 ports of different types (see spec list below). The UNO-3084 is also said to be equipped with dual IEEE-1394b (Firewire) interfaces for machine vision applications, as well as four-channel isolated digital I/O for alarm triggers and handling. Two DVI-I ports, meanwhile, offer support for up to three displays, says the company.
