SSL VPN Toolkit available for embedded Linux
Apr 9, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 2 viewsIcon Labs is distributing a virtual private network (VPN) toolkit for Linux, BSD, and Solaris aimed at helping device designers integrate remote security solutions based on secure socket layer (SSL) technology.
The Menlo AccessPoint SSL VPN Toolkit can be used in access routers, firewalls, content switches, intrusion prevention devices, and wireless access points that run Linux, Solaris, or BSD, according to Icon Labs, and it can be ported to other platforms as well.
According to Icon Labs, AccessPoint supports remote desktop and application access, web-based FTP and file sharing, web and HTTPS proxy, TCP Tunneling for email client support, and Telnet and SSH terminal access. The Toolkit includes a web user interface for remote access and administration, extensive client and application support, fine-grained access policies, user, group and global bookmarks, and single sign-on support–eliminating the need for users to re-authenticate. An optional authentication package includes RADIUS, LDAP, Active Directory, and NT Domain authentication.
Menlo Logic CEO Kasey Cross said, "Icon Labs' experience providing software, services, and support to OEM vendors will enable us to deliver a more complete solution."
