Pika Technologies says its SDK (software development kit) for media processing applications will gain Linux support in June. The “MonteCarlo” SDK includes an API and drivers for Pika's line cards and peripherals, and targets IVR (interactive voice response), call center, custom PC/IP PBX (public branch exchange), fax, and logging applications.

Pika says Linux support will arrive with version 6.3 of MonteCarlo, which will support “two to three” Linux distributions chosen according to customer preferences. Each distribution will receive complete testing, and SDKs for these distributions will include comprehensive support, including support for issues related to the Linux distribution, Pika says.

The 6.3 release will also be available with partial support for “a large number” of additional Linux distributions, Pika says. The SDK will be built and tested on these additional distributions, but will not include support for issues related to the Linux distribution, unless purchased for an additional fee to be determined by customer requirements.

Pika's VP of operations and technology, Doug Petty, said, “The number of developers who favor the Linux OS continues to climb.”

Availability

Version 6.3 of the MonteCarlo SDK is expected to ship in June, and will be priced according to customer specifications, Pika says.
