The U.K. firm Netvoyager announced a thin client that runs Linux and provides dual-display support, with both VGA and DVI outputs. The Neterm LX1032, as well as the similar Windows-based XP1032, offer Via C7 or Eden processors respectively, as well as 1GB of DDR2 RAM. 1GB of flash, a gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 2.0 ports, plus smart-card reader and Wi-Fi options, the company says.

According to Netvoyager, its Neterm LX1032 uses just 25 Watts, and is suitable for replacing power-hungry PCs in applications such as call centers, education, health care, and retail. The device's "powerful 3D graphics engine" allows connecting dual displays via its VGA and DVI ports, with resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels, the company adds.

Netvoyager says the Neterm LX1032's front panel (right) includes two USB 2.0 ports, a microphone input, and a speaker output. The rear panel, meanwhile, has the aforementioned video outputs, plus dual PS/2 ports for a keyboard and mouse, as well as two additional USB ports.

Also on the back of the device is its gigabit Ethernet port, according to the company. A smart-card reader and wireless local area networking are available hardware add-ins, says Netvoyager.

It's said the Neterm LX1032 runs on a 1.6GHz Via C7, with the CN896 northbridge and VT8237S southbridge. The device includes 1GB of DDR2 RAM and 1GB of flash storage, Netvoyager adds.

According to Netvoyager, the Neterm LX1032 includes remote session support for Microsoft, Citrix, NoMachine, Ericom, VNC, X11, Unix, and Linux servers, along with SSH and terminal emulation, the company says. A Firefox browser is also supplied.

Windows-based XP1032

Netvoyager also offers the Neterm XP1032, a thin client that includes mostly the same hardware — the CPU is said to be a Via Eden instead of a C7 — but runs Windows Embedded Standard 2009 instead of Linux. This version adds support for virtualization technology such as Citrix's HDX (high definition user experience) and VMWare's PCoIP, the company says.

The XP1032 supports Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, 2X, Ericom, NoMachine, Unix, and Linux servers, says Netvoyager. The embedded Internet Explorer browser is touted as providing the XP1032 with independent internet access whilst supporting Adobe Flash, Shockwave, Java, PDF, and MS Office file viewers
