TimeSys adds Embedded Linux support for MIPS ‘Malta’ boards
May 30, 2002 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsPittsburgh, PA — (press release excerpt) — TimeSys Corp. today released complete embedded Linux solutions for 'Malta' development boards utilizing the MIPS32 4Kc and MIPS64 5Kc processor cores. These cores are ideally suited for a variety of system-on-chip (SOC) embedded applications, such as digital consumer, networking, and office automation systems.
TimeSys' Linux products for the MIPS32 and MIPS64 Malta development boards provide a complete embedded Linux solution featuring TimeSys Linux GPL, consisting of a fully featured preemptible kernel that extends a standard Linux distribution to support the predictable, extremely low-latency response requirements of embedded systems. Also available are TimeSys modules that transform TimeSys Linux GPL to meet strict performance requirements. TimeSys Linux/Real-Time delivers full response predictability to TimeSys Linux GPL. TimeSys Linux/CPU and /Net provide capabilities for dynamic load handling and system overload protection. Used in conjunction with TimeSys' cross-platform development tools, TimeSys also provides a complete embedded Linux-based solution for designing, developing and deploying devices on Malta development boards.
TimeSys' Linux solution for the MIPS32 and MIPS64 Malta development boards includes:
- Support for the Malta development boards for TimeSys' embedded-Linux product offering
- Linux board-hosted GNU tool chains
- PC-based Linux cross-platform GNU tool chains
- Timing analysis core for use by TimeSys' event tracing and timing visualization tool: TimeTrace
- Certified device drivers
- User, API and SBC specific documentation
For Windows-based cross platform development, TimeSys supports the Malta boards with the following set of Windows-based cross-development tools:
- TimeStorm: TimeSys' Windows-hosted Integrated Development Environment for cross-platform development with Windows-based MIPS cross-platform tool chains
- TimeTrace: a Windows-hosted tool for event tracing and timing visualization
- TimeWiz: a Windows-hosted real-time analysis and simulation tool
TimeSys' complete embedded Linux solutions for the MIPS Malta development boards are available for download.
