TimeSys rev’s ARM11 cross-tools, i.MX31 support

Aug 23, 2007 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 2 views

Embedded Linux developer services provider TimeSys has updated its cross-toolchain packages for the ARMv6j (ARM11) architecture. Additionally, the company has used the toolchain to rebuild its downloadable binary package repository and reference distribution for Freescale's i.MX31 mobile applications processor.

TimeSys's new cross-toolchain packages can be used in toolchains on Linux and Windows development hosts, and support both glibc and uClibc, the company said. Packages include:

  • gcc 4.1.1
  • binutils 2.17
  • glibc 2.4.4

TimeSys said it used the new cross-toolchain packages to update its repository of pre-tested, downloadable binaries for Freescale's ARM11-based i.MX31 SoC (system-on-chip). The update includes packages built with uClibc as well as glibc, the vendor said.

Additionally, TimeSys says it has updated its reference distribution for the i.MX31, which was contributed last year by its Japanese support partner, Nissin Systems. Based on a 2.6.19 kernel, the reference distribution is said to support 18 of the mobile application processor's interfaces, including serial, Ethernet, SPI, touchscreen, framebuffer, keypad, camera, I2C, IDE (ATA), audio (with OSS emulation), USB host, USB gadget, power management, NAND (MTD), NOR (MTD), RTC, watchdog, and PCMCIA.

Access to the updates is free to current i.MX31 LinuxLink subscribers, TimeSys said.
