ESC, San Jose, CA — (press release excerpt) — TimeSys Corporation and MIPS Technologies, Inc. today announced a cooperative agreement whereby TimeSys will port Linux/RT to the MIPS Technologies MIPS32TM and MIPS64TM architecture platform. As part of the agreement, TimeSys will become a member of the MIPS Alliance Program.

TimeSys Linux/RT offers all the benefits of a real-time operating system (RTOS) solution by providing the popular open-source Linux environment and benefits of a Linux based embedded application. The critical features for real-time support that are included in TimeSys Linux/RT are: pre-emptive fixed priority scheduling, 256 priorities, priority inheritance support, high-resolution timers, the TimeTrace tool to support measurement and visualization of real-time performance. In addition, TimeSys Linux/RT supports multi-processor architectures and offers CPU reservations that guarantee QoS support.
