A British embedded software training firm is adding a new course called Graphics for Embedded Linux. Feabhas Limited will hold the three-day, X-Window flavored class at its Bracknell, Berkshire campus.

“Graphics for Embedded Linux” will introduce C and C++ programmers to embedded Linux graphical environments, with a particular focus on X development. The course will offer tips on integrating compelling graphics and touch-screen interfaces into applications without consuming excessive memory and storage. Students will work with ARM9-based systems from Digi International.

Topics for the new course include:

  • Linux and graphics
  • The X Window system
  • Building X
  • Running X
  • Window managers
  • Writing graphical applications
  • Programming with Xlib
  • Programming with GTK+
  • Programming with Qt
  • Living without X

Dates have yet to be chosen for the 1,188 GBP (~$1,718) course, but will soon be added to the public schedule. The course is also available for closed, on-site sessions. The complete course outline is available here.
