Boston, MA; Embedded Systems Conference — (press release excerpt) — Wasabi Systems today announced completion of a port of NetBSD to Xilinx's Virtex-II Pro FPGA. The port will be demonstrated at the Embedded Systems Conference in Boston this week.

The Xilinx Virtex-II Pro family immerses IBM PowerPC microprocessors and Rocket I/O multi-gigabit transceivers into the Virtex-II FPGA fabric. The industry's first platform for programmable systems allows designers to create flexible, scalable systems for embedded applications, at reduced cost, with faster time-to-market.

NetBSD is widely used in embedded applications due to its advanced networking functionality, robust feature set, small footprint, and high code quality, and is particularly well suited for internet infrastructure and storage devices.
