IBM, Intel, and Novell are co-sponsoring a webcast entitled “Evaluating Open Source Virtualization.” Although primarily focused on enterprise applications and benefits, the free, hour-long event on Oct. 30 may interest device developers who are following the current explosion of virtualization technologies and applications.

Tony Iams, Vice President and Senior Analyst at Ideas International, Inc., will start off the one-hour webcast by framing some key questions for IT managers:

• Do established virtualization benefits such as server consolidation, increased applications per server, and cost and power savings translate to the open-source realm?
• What additional virtualization benefits are possible with open-source virtualization?
• What are the best strategies and technologies for implementing virtualization in an open-source environment?
