Wind River will hold a regional developer conference in Southern California focused on military/aerospace products and technology in January. The one-day event will include Linux- and VxWorks-based product demonstrations, and is set for Jan. 11, in Manhattan Beach, a suburb of Los Angeles.

According to Wind River, commercial embedded development products and support — or “device software optimization” (DSO) in the company's marketing lingo — can help aerospace and defense device manufacturers deal with competitive pressure, increasing complexity, and shorter market windows, by helping them focus development efforts on their unique value-add and competitive features.

The regional conference will include a keynote by VP of Field Marketing Steve LaPedis, and demonstrations involving mil/aero standards such as POSIX, DO-178B, ARINC 653, SDR (software-defined radio), and MILS Common Criteria. The event will give engineers a chance to meet face-to-face with peers and with Wind River engineers and product specialists, the company says.

Upwards of 10 Wind River ecosystem partners are expected to attend, including AdaCore, CRC, DDC-I, Freescale, IBM Rational, IBM Systems and Technology, iLogix, OIS, Tilcon, and Virtutech.
