Sun targets Microsoft’s .NET with free software [Reuters]

Reuters is reporting that Sun is 'setting the non-Microsoft standard' in 'Web services.' This move by Sun to embrace open standards, and Linux in particular, is yet another indication of a battle brewing between the two companies. For its part, Microsoft is phasing out Sun's Java in products in favor of home-grown .NET services. (more…)

Embedded Linux powers new thin-client terminal

MontaVista Software, Inc. today announced that two Japanese firms, Nexterm Inc. and ELT Inc., have jointly developed “an advanced thin-client terminal” based on MontaVista Linux.
