QNX makes a ‘Momentics’ announcement

QNX Software Systems (Ottawa, Canada) has introduced a new branding — “Momentics” — to go with the company's first in-house developed graphical Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The recently introduced QNX Momentics Development Suite marks a major step forward for QNX, one that is clearly intended to take on market leader Wind River's popular “Tornado” embedded development toolset. GDB gains support for remote debugging of multithreaded programs

As Linux becomes more popular with embedded system developers, it's becoming increasingly important for gdb to be able to do remote debugging of multithreaded programs in an embedded Linux target. As of gdb 5.2, gdb's “gdbserver” remote probe did not support this. (more…)

VDC report shows embedded Java market growing 34% annually
