Access revs Linux browser for smart devices

Free, commercial PLD SDKs support Linux targets

Altera has revised its SDKs (software development kits) for PLDs (programmable logic devices). Both free and subscription versions of Quartus II 4.1 support Altera's new Cyclone II FPGA family, and both can be used to develop custom logic devices that run uClinux. High-end 64-bit MIPS processor supports Linux device apps

Toshiba America Electronic Components (TAEC) has added a chip at the top end of its “TX System RISC” line of general-purpose embedded processors. The 64-bit MIPS-based TX9956CXBG is the first Toshiba CPU based on 90nm process technology, and the first to use Toshiba's TX99/H4 core. (more…)

Linux-based 3G WAP does broadband over cellular networks
